I made a couple cuts on my little Redhaven...is it wrong to prune at this time of year?
I read in a pamphlet at a garden centre that a peach tree can catch canker if pruned in the winter. But they can catch other diseases if pruned in the summer. So this is confusing.

Winter is the normal time to do major pruning on temperate fruit trees. Late winter is better if there is a chance of winter injury, but Redhaven is hardy enough for this not to be a problem in Zone 6. I prune my peach tree any time of the year and have never noticed any negative effects.

Just I have a pamphelt from a garden centre saying they are suseptible to canker if winter pruned. makes no sense all the people on youtube prune when they are clearly dormant.
