This is my Peace Lily, Herbert. He lives in my laundry room because of his superlative air cleaning powers, working closely in conjunction with my gas water heater and dryer. Of course, the laundry room doesn't get a ton of light. I have one of those semi-circular door-windows that gives a fairly mild amount of indirect light for most of the day. As you can see from the pictures, his inflorescences look pretty half-assed, with small, sickly-looking, non-assertive spathes, and equally small spadix that quickly turn brown. (Sorry if I totally botched the plural forms of these words.) They also don't get very tall in relation to the plant. Is this most likely the result of insufficient light? New leaf growth doesn't seem to be slowed at all. The only problem seems to manifest with the flowers. Ideas?
It's possible. I did put him there to clean up some of the CO2, but maybe there's too much for just one plant. I don't know. The other thing I should note is that the flower you see in the picture there is pretty much as big as the flowers get on this plant. First the spadix turns brown, and then the whole inflorescence. This plant had nice, healthy looking inflorescences when I got it, back in October or so. But they all died off, and now I get these sporadic, handicapped ones.
