So this assumed to be palmatum was the root stock to a dissectum that died. This is the first year it produced seeds. I thought it was a palmatum because of its leaf shape but the seeds are making me thinking different.

    Hybrid?

Could someone help ease my mind.

The leaves are not looking very shirasawanum like to me, but as you say, a hybrid is possible. Give the seeds a little more time, they may start to hang downwards when they get heavier. My 'Sango kaku' seeds are being held up above the leaves at present but they are much smaller and less developed than yours.

The leaves look like those of an Acer amoenum, i take that for certain.
Acer shirasawanum seeds often are helding up, particularly ‘Jordan’, but those of amoenum do not.
Mixing of pollens possible; impossible to bee sure.
