I bought a palm tree at my local Costco (Massachusetts). It didn't come with any info. I am not sure what kind of tree it is.
It is in a terra cotta (spelling?) pot and is surrounded with little rocks. The rocks are sprayed or glued down and the "bulb" of the tree is sticking out more then 1/2 way. the tree itself is small (maybe 12" high x 12" wide), with leaves that are like needles.
I am not sure how to care for this, right now it is turning brown and the bulb is leaning to one side. I have searched the internet for info - the only thing that I have learned is to put it outside - weaning in into sunlight. I just can't figure out how it is going to grow in this pot ? Any ideas - I would greatly appreciate.

Hey Rosey, could be a pony tail palm. They are slow growing with a bulbous base. It will be hard to ID without a picture.

Turning brown? Could be different things. Too dry? (Many palms like it dry, if it is indeed a palm.)

Leaning over is probably just the way it was planted or it has had the light from only one side for a while.

Can you post a photo? of give us some more description? Do a search for pony tail palm to see if it looks like that.
