HI ALL, IM NEW ON HERE JUST LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON AN EASY PALM TREE THAT DOESNT GROW HUGE AND CAN BE KEPT INDOORS OR IN A GREEN HOUSE. I HAVE LOOKED ALL OVER THE WEB AND OBVIOUSLY ALOT OF THE PALM TREE GROW HUGE. I WAS WONDERING IF I BUY A SMALLISH ONE AND KEEP IT IN A SMALL POT WOULD THIS HOLD UP THE GROWTH ? AS STUPID AS THIS MAY SOUND IVE ALWAYS FANCIED A STEREOTYPICAL LOOKING PALM . ANOTHER IDEA IS JUST TO GET A Dracaena OR A Pachypodium lameri. I WOULD BE GREATFUL FOR ANY ADVISE MANY THANKS, ROB.
How about a parlor palm? I have had one for many years in the house (acually several in a big pot) that has stayed under 4' ft. In a greenhouse or atrium, it will probably grow larger.
You can also look into Rhapis species, Chamaedorea species (including the Parlour Palm, above), of any of the other 'small' palm species. Mostly understory palms, usually from Mexico, Central America, or sometimes from Australia's Northern or Eastern Island neighbours or Southeast Asia.
