    Hi:

I have a Canary Island Date Palm whose roots have insinuated themselves between the wall of my house and the planter it is in, and is prying the planter away from the wall. Is there any way I can keep the tree and the planter? I am wondering if I dig the roots away from the tree, if they will just grow back. I don't want to pay $1000 to have it dug out, and it's too small for a grower to pay me to take it away . . . I hate to kill a living tree, but I don't know what else to do.

    Please help!

a picture of the scale or size of the beast would help. you may be able to cut the roots along the one side and install a root barrier product like Deeproot.

here's a photo. It seems too small for a tree company to buy. I've had several companies turn me down.
