    Dear plant enthusiasts,

a week ago I bought a palm tree, which the seller tree me was an areca palm. However I have the impression this is not correct. Does anyone know what tree it is? The leaves are somewhat similar to those of a ginkgo biloba, but less symmetrical, and are covered with small brown dots which the seller told me were pollen, which may or may not be true.

    Kind regards,
    Gert

Caryota sp., Fishtail Palm. C. mitis or C. urens - don't know which.

Indeed, based on your hints I looked it up in a botany book and it is a caryota mitis (apparently the c. urens leaves look different). Thanks a million for your fast and accurate reply!
