I've got plenty of palm seedlings from the following palms that I'd like to trade for other tropicals species... Please post here, or pm me. I'm not picky, tell me what you got... Rooted Cuttings... Yeah, I want 'em! Anyone w/ Osmanthus fragrans plants or other fragrants plants? These rare palms aren't sold in BoxStores here in FL, these are strictly 'collectors' palms... You can really ooohhh, and ahhh some people with these... They'd sell for $10ea, so I'd like to get atleast half of their values for trade... Thanks to all fer lookin'... Here's the short palm list: Veitcha arecina aka Montgomery Palm Veitcha winin Wodyetia bifurcata aka FoxTail Palm Dictyosperma album aka Hurricane Palm or Princess Palm Archontophoenix alexandrae aka King Palm Dypsis leptocheilos aka TeddyBear Palm
I am interested in 2 of each of the following: Dictyosperma album Archontophoenix alexandrae Dypsis leptocheilos But, I don't have anything to trade ? Will you take $5 a piece ? and where are you located ?
Sure Morgan. Can Do. You wanna send me a PM with your address? I'll get 'em out to you ASAP. I'm located in Tampa, FL. I take it your in SoCal right? I doubt these would grow well outdoors in NoCal. ~LCA. (Ray)
I am in the central coast. I am having a lot of luck with the Archontophoenix alexandrae when those around me do not. I am also able to grow the Chambeyronia hookeri and Chambeyronia Macroparpas although they grow real slowly. So I am experimenting here. The stronger they are the better off they do. Do you have any of the alexandre's with multiple trunks ? or can you tell yet ? By the way, what is a PM ?
PM : Personal Message I think if you move your cursor onto my name, it'll option you to send me a PM. Glad to hear your already growing them... I love C. macrocarpa's myself. I have about half a dozen of them around my property too. I just love those red leaves! :) What they do to get multiple trunks is place a couple together in the container when they're small seedlings like I have. Then they just wind up growing up side by side giving you the multi-trunk look... When you say Central Coast. Is that North or South of SantaBarbara? I used to live in a little flower power town called Lompoc for a couple years... (88-92) ~LCA.
I am Nipomo is just accross the Santa Maria river. It is about 45 minutes north of Lompoc. I tried putting my curser over your name. It did not give me a PM option. But, I am in the 93444 zip code. I had a second look at your list of trees. I actually think that I want two of each except for the Dictyosperma albums. Of those I want 4. I have three daughters and I want a spare to avoid travesty if something happens to one of the "princess palms" It is funny but with the King and Queen Palms at our place they have been asking for princess palms. This will be a nice surprise for them. You dont happen to have any Cupernicia Bailyanna seedlings do you ? Thanks Morgan
Those C. baileys are VERY NICE palms. You know the look. :D Their VERY slow palms... Sorry, I don't. I do have Copernica albas though. ? ~LCA. Thinking back mine was 93435! or 93436. Something like that! <smiles>
How much did you pay for your Chambeyronia macrocarpa Morgan,if you don't mind me asking... And how big was it, and is it now? And is it the watermelon speckled version?
It was a 1 gallon. It was about 15 inches. I believe it was $25. That was two years ago. It is still in a 1 gallon. Thicker trunk now. Still very slow growth. They are the watermelon. I also have the hookeri. I have a larger one that is about 3-4 feet. Only has gained about a foot. Lost one of the same size. These were $175. I wont be buying any more of these. Are they cheaper in Florida ?
Good Mornin'. Yeah, I'd have to say so. My buddy has a Rare Palm Nursery in St.Pete... He imports seed, and grows... This is where my stock mainly comes from. I should get you a list of his palms for sale... I could probably get boxes for shipping 3gal palms, but I doubt anything bigger than that... I could probably get a 3gal, 3ft Chambeyronia to you for $40, and that would include shipping and the box... Let me know if your interested in his price list... To be honest with you that palm would probably cost me $25 or $30, and then the rest would be for shipping and handling... He's got way more stuff than me. I'm just getting into it... My stuff is all seedlings anyways, he's got trees.
You know not to bury the nut/seed when planting right Morgan? That would be too deep. The nut eventually falls off... Or else comes off with a little co-ercing. ~LCA.
The D. albums are sun-hardened, and ready for full sun. The others still need to be in filtered light. The Wodyetias and Veitchia arecina can get a little more than the others though... They're on their way to be hardened off too... Good Question Morgan.
