Palm in danger of collapsing

Discussion in 'HortForum' started by Unregistered, May 13, 2005.

  1. My Palm has taken to bending to one side recently. This isn't due to loose soil or anything like that. I think it is just bowing under it's own weight.

It's a bit worrying because it's looking like it will soon fall over.

Can I straighten it somehow, or does it need re-potting. Last time I did this the plant didn't take well to the new soil / pot so I am a little concerned about doing this.

You aren't registered so I have no idea if you will even get this message. Is this particular palm in a pot? Do you know what type of palm you have?

If this palm is in a pot, I would suggest that you repot in whatever size pot is appropriate. If it's rootbound then it needs a pot that it 2" larger. When placing the rootball in the pot, place it so that the top of the palm is straight vertically. The rootball will be at an angle in the pot, but not to worry. It's the top that needs to be straight up and down.
