I picked up this palm a few weeks ago at my local supermarket, I know its a palm but I dont know what kind it is. All it says is "Assorted Palms: Easy to grow plants have graceful divided leaves" When I was looking at it, it actually looks like its 3 palms in one container; 1 big one in the center and 2 small ones on the side. Does anybody know what type of palm this is? It doesnt really look like the popular "Parlor Palm" but I could be mistaken.
Palm tree identification Hello, I bought this palm at my local supermarket a few weeks ago. It looks like its actually 3 palms in the same pot. I don't know if this is a Majesty palm or a Parlor palm or what. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Re: Palm tree identification Looks like you have Ravenea rivularis, Majesty palm which is often sold as a multiple planting. Cheers, LPN.
Look up (images of) Kentia and Areca palms (and I may be totally off base here!). Actually it reminds me even more of a 'cardboard' palm - not in the actual leaf structure, but its stiffness.
Cerainly not a parlor palm (Chamaedorea elegans) and also looks wrong for "kentia" (Howea) or "areca" (Dypsis/Chrysalidocarpus). The feature I notice is the apparently blunt or even square tips of the leaflets, but your pic is not sharp enough to see clearly. One possibility that occurs to me is Arenga engleri. If you could get a good clear shot of the frond undersides, near the tip, that might help.
I have the same plant, I thought it was a Kentia,I may be wrong. I do know for theses winter months keep these guys in lots of humidity mine started losing branches so I moved it to the kitchen and run a pan of water and it seems to do a little better. good luck with it! it's a beautiful plant to have.
