I have a 5 ft P. gaeyi that I just noticed yesterday has a terrible case of root rot. I am not experienced with dealing with this and would really appreciate some help.

So far, I have cut out all the rot, plus a bit more. A distressing process that has reduced it to about half the original size. What should I do now - I was in a panic and unsure, but I have dusted the healthy section with root powder and planted it in dry 1:2 cacti compost/perlite in the hope that it will pull through.

    Is this roughly correct procedure?

    Cheers,

    Dan
