Here are five plants I encountered on a visit to páramo environment at around eleven thousand feet in the Puracé National Park in Colombia´s Central Cordillera. Any identifications? I believe number three is Fica species. I´ll post the typical Espeletia in a subsequent post.

Ficus species produce figs, not what plant shown is bearing.

Hi, I can't help on these plants, but I would be very interested in seeing any pics of Castilleja species you've found in the Colombian Andes. I've been studying this genus for decades, but I've never been to Colombia. I am quite familiar with the Andean species, though, having studied many hundreds of herbarium sheets from S.A. and having done field work in Andean Ecuador and Peru. If you or other UBC users would like to discuss Castilleja matters & ID in general, write to me: m.egger@comcast.net and/or visit my Flickr photo site:

I know I have seen some but I can´t remember where. I will keep an eye out for it.
