osakazuki dark bark

    Hi, just purchased and planted an osakazazuki I've read on here that there are different forms of this tree most have red stems from the pics on here, will my darker stemed type have the famous red in autum?

    Hi,

    Thanks for taking the time to fix the pictures.

    Your Osakazuki looks identical to mine, which is the standard form. I believe new growth is purplish/reddish but otherwise the bark is as yours. So if you got it from a reputable source there is every chance you'll get the brilliant red in autumn.

    One thing to be aware of is that during the first year, as your tree is not yet well established, fall colours may be somewhat different; especially if the plant is stressed by drought or some other factors over summer.
