    Hi,

My palm tree in the garden has lost all its leaves due to severe frost. It had flowered 2 years in a row. Can it be cut back and if so, how far or have I lost it?

Hard to advise without pictures. Many plants called "palms" actually belong
to other plant familys. True palms often die when pruned below the bud.

Thanks - I've cut it back to live wood and sealed. Am keeping my fingers crossed that it will re-sprout. It was a Cordyline.

This last bitter winter has virtually eliminated Cordylines from the landscape around here, (and, I hear, in many other parts of the UK,) many of which had survived much longer than 20 years unharmed. It is strange to drive around and not see them anymore.

Mostly it is only the top that is killed and many/most will resprout from the base. Good luck with yours coracle.
