Hi, I would like to order a plant from Asia and am not familiar with the process if there is one. I have read that with many of the plant sources that you require a Phytosanitary Certificate, which they supply. (country of origin) Would I need any other information to purchase any plants. Some nurseries will not ship at all and many say that the cost of the Phyto. cert. is very high. Not making it reasonable to order at all. If anyone has information that would assit, it would be much appreciated.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is responsible for overseeing plant imports. A phytosanitary certificate is generally required for live plants or vegetative starts--bulbs, corms, etc. Seeds are often exempt. Certain plants are not allowed in any form.
