My orchid has a large bud on it. It is a very pale green and is very close to opening. There is a smaller tighter bud farther down the spike and another looks like it is forming. Yet the big one just won't bloom. It has been like this for around a month maybe. I decided to place it outside a few days ago in hopes that the natural humidity will help. I haven't seen much of a change though.
How long can buds take to open?

No question this is a flower bud and not a seed pod?

It is definatly a flower bud because I can see the white color of the petals. It is that close.
    My orchid is a Phalaenopsis.

I was also wondering about the leaves of my orchid. Most of them are very nice and are doing fine. But a leaf keeps growing underneath of a larger leaf and I am worried that it is not getting enough sunlight. The last time this happened the leaf ended up falling off. Any ideas?

Good news! The bud has finally bloomed. I woke up this morning and went outside to check on it's progress and it was starting to open and finished opening during the day. I was so excited. I'll post two pictures.

Though, I am still worried about the hidden leaves.
