I've had these orchids for almost a month. Two blooms have already wilted and a third one is in the process of wilting. When I got them, all of them were in full bloom. I keep them about a metre away from the window. I water them twice a week (about half a cup of water). Three new buds have sprouted since I first got it but they seem to have stopped growing much. The orchids also look a little snug in their pot but the roots are mostly green and firm. However, there are some slightly blackish spots on the roots, and I recently discovered little dark patches on one leaf. Is there anything wrong with my orchids?

    Thanks.

Your phals look good to me.

Don't be shy with the water. I put mine in the sink once a week and give them a gentle spray---this soaks the bark, moistens the roots, and keeps the leaves clean. Gives a good opportunity to closely look at the plant and detect any impending problem, such as the dreaded scale insects. Also mist my orchids daily.

Thanks! I have been a bit shy with the watering because I'm scared of over watering them.

As long as your plants have excellent drainage, they should be OK.
