Two summers ago I brought back from Ontario some seeds from a particularly nice dark red hollyhock. I planted them at the front of my house (south facing) and this summer they grew...and grew...and grew...eventually reaching approx 20ft high. The plants the seeds were taken from were a nice managable 6-7ft. Accepting the fact that they were in good soil and "happy" in their location (as I'm sure the originals were) how can I get mine to grow more compact and end up at the 6-7ft mark. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
there really isnt any method, if you were to prune the plant, you wouldnt get any blooms..... so sorry
did you fertillize them? cause if you did thats probably why they grew so big, they can survive in pretty crappy soil.
