one grass, one green flower?

    I was on a roll with plant ID this week but two subjects have left me empty after considerable searching.

    Plant #1. A vine-like that uses a host plant for support. It has a somewhat ribbed and square stem that is smooth except for some minute hairs.

    Plant #2 I don't intentionally do grasses but the seed head on this one, (probably very common), caught my eye.

    the second one looks like bearded shorthusk (brachyelytrum erectum)

    is the first one wild four o'clock possibly (mirabilis nyctaginea)?

    The first might be Triodanis.

    David may have nailed it and I feel a little foolish for not recognizing early Venus Looking Glass.
    I have dozens of photos of Triodanis Perfoliata "in bloom."

    I think I was caught by this particular plant, (above), because it is vine-like and about 3 to 4 feet in length. That however may be due to it being in a very shaded area....

    I'll follow up on the brachyelytrum erectum to see if I can do a positive.
