I live in Eastern Pennsylvania. Was outside today and noticed this fungus growing on an old tree stump in our yard. It's fuzzy! Can somebody give me an idea as to what it is? I've searched databases and found nothing like it so far.
Panus rudis (sometimes called Lentinus strigosus). It is a gilled mushroom that decomposes dead hardwood, not rarely occurring on the cut surfaces of stumps. Please, read more: http://www.mushroomexpert.com/panus_rudis.html Harri Harmaja http://www.fmnh.helsinki.fi/users/harmaja/about_myself.htm
