I'm finally getting the idea that this is not a fan-shaped Scaevola-type flower, but just a flower missing some petals, same flower in both photos. Is that right?
I found a site with a lot of plants in the Seychelles: Seychelles Plant Gallery. Search images doesn't seem to return anything, but the other lists have a lot of photos.

I cannot remember if it was the same flower.
    I think not.
One flower is covered in water droplets while the other has none.
There had been a torrential tropical storm just before we landed.
Pic 1 left petal has small notch. Pic 4 perfect left petal.
I assumed looking at the innards of the flower that it was all intact with no petals missing.
Interesting thought Wendy. It hadn't occurred to me. Thanks for making me think twice!

    Goodness..so much seems to fit.

Almost there but not pinned it down.

Cleome viscosa...hairy.... square stems...leaf shape fits

    http://phytoimages.siu.edu/users/pelserpb/9_27_11/27sep11/CSC_0508.jpg

Cleome ciliate see page 327 shows a diagram of flowers that look right with "Normal ovary flower with fertile ovule s and papillose stigma"
In addition quote same article...."The plant grows erect to a height of 30cm and then falls on the ground where it continues to grow and flower. Such flat sprawling plants have a good chance of survival in an exposed situation".... .seems to sum up beautifully what I saw.

While the flowers of Cleome rutidosperma look almost right.

Hadn't realised just how many sp of Cleome exist.

Think I will settle for Cleome sp!

Unless anyone can pin it down.

    Thanks again Tyrlych

Your leaves seem fatter at the end away from the stem than in the last photo. It does look like it would be that genus, with the fan flower.

That's what I was trying to say...there are bits from each that look kind of right ...but none so far fit perfectly.

Leaves on the Cleome rutidosperma are miles out .
