I have had this plant for over a decade and it never flowered. Suddenly, it sprouted this large flower that is exuding a clear, sticky substance with a sweet, almost overpowering fragrance.

Does anyone know what kind of plant this is?

Sometimes plants can be really sneaky. I've had this Sansevieria (mother-in-law-tongue) for years. One day IT decided to bloom. Didn't even know they did.

Yes I knew about the wandering Jew. Threw some out under a bush when I moved to San Jose, CA and the silly stuff took off and grew. Got about a foot tall, produced three flowers at the top of each stem, grew out to the shade line from the bush and stopped. Also threw out a Strawberry Geranium and it did about the same thing. It's amazing what happens when you move, like I did from Seattle, to San Jose and what was once a house plant becomes a yard plant. That's where I saw jade plant in full bloom and growing in a shady place in the yard for the first time. Weird

Dracaena fragrans....I've seen it in bloom at the Boeing Field Airport building in Seattle and was amazed. 10 foot or better plants that appeared to have some age on them. Does the Dracaena Marginata bloom also? I asume that all plants have a flower of sorts but I've never seen or heard of any thing about the marginata.

have little white star flowers all over the bottom garden as the wandering Jew wanders forth in gay abandon. Its about to get its day. I have invested in 4 red hens to do the job and hopefully like last time in the upper garden it will disappear. It grows a little too well here.
