Does anybody recognize this lovely wildflower that keeps appearing in my yard?
Last summer I sucessfully transplanted about a half-dozen individuals into a front yard flower box and they were quite prolific!
these pictures are from the single plant that returned in roughly the same location as last summer.
I've spotted similar annuals in the garden center, but they were a bit larger. I have'nt noticed any others around here in the wild.
    Thanks for the help,
    Larry

Petunia x hybrida.....They can self seed for years in gardens. The original plant was likely a store bought annual. Over the years, the unique traits of the individual varieties mix, some natural selection occurs, and you get a more robust but less showy plant in your garden.

Thanks agian Simon. I do appreciate your efforts to help out! This is a great site, full of knowledgable people willing to help educate the layman, like myself.

My father, who lives close to me in West Virginia has some plants that were transplanted into his yard, and I intend to see if we can ID those as well in later posts.

So...on behalf of all us seedlings, please keep up the good work!
