We planted a Ohio Buckeye in our front yard a few years ago, and it grow quite well. In the spring the leaves and candles appear, no problem. But then later on in mid June the leaves start curling up, small holes appear here and there. In end of July, early August when the weather starts to really warm up, the leaves curl up more, turn a light brown, and later on dark brown and brittle. I have tried watering it heavier thinking it might be moisture shortage, but this does not seem to help. Anybody have any suggestions? The air here is very dry. The tree is planted in loose, sandy native clay.
Yes: Buckeyes and horse chestnuts are subject to scorching of the leaves where conditions are not humid enough for them.
Just wondering if anybody has any sugggestions on what to do about it? Will deep watering the roots help?
