I have a young 7 foot Japanese Maple (Named who knows?) anyway, it is red with a hint of green. The tree was hiding under the wieght of a Elderberry, that manage to snap off the top three feet of the maple. there was no way the elderberry was going to come out without a fight, so we sadly moved the maple. we transplanted it to a similar spot from where it came from with a pretty big root ball. I just noticed five days later the red seem to be leaving the leaves at the edges, and turning a sad bright dead looking yellow. I have been watering, and with all the rain this week, I'm sure that it has water. I'm sure that it is mostly the fact that it was moved in may and not november, but is there something that I can do to stop the tree from dying off. or should I just resign myself to the tree looking awful for awhile and then hopefully see improvement down the road? I would just wait, it might drop some leaves or die back, but it should recover after it has grown it's roots back to support the foilage.. Though it might take a while. Keep moist just don't water it too much or the roots would rot. See if you could try to provide some shade so it is not stressed out from the heat. I don't have experience moving a 7 ft maple before but this is my experience with moving plants and losing roots in general. Good luck
