Oddball shrub and giant lily (?)

    Saw this first one in Oak Bay (Victoria), neither of my go-to plant ID people have seen it. From a distance looks like a monocot, but it is a dicot. Only have the one picture because I didn't want to get too far in someone's front yard :)
    The second picture is from a couple months ago at Government House (also in Victoria), these things are over 6ft tall with seed pods like cucumbers.

    I think the lily may be Cardiocrinum giganteum which can grow to be even taller than 6 feet.

    Thank you both! Now I've seen what the flowers look like, I wonder why they aren't more common.
