I'll start with two scenes in the North Garden this time. Here's a colourful set that doesn't sound like it would naturally show up in one photo - Rhododendron canadense and Euonymus europaeus. I said this Colletia hystrix in the alpine garden would appear here regularly. I'm calling it 'Rosea', though the tag does not say that. Nearby is Gaultheria mucronata. Franklinia alatamaha still has a flower. In the Asian garden, Lindera obtusiloba is a major show-off right now. Next to it, the Lindera erythrocarpa leaves are entirely green. I'd even have thought it was evergreen, but it's supposed to colour up like its neighbour. You really can't ignore the maples. Here's Acer japonicum 'Aconitifolium'. I've never paid attention to quince in the stores, so had no idea what this was until I found the label - no small undertaking with those stiff branches and all those thorns. Chaenomeles thibetica.
