    Hi All

I am new to the site. I am resurrecting an old garden. It is full of grass from the neighbour's adjoining yard. How can I stop the grass from creeping under the fence into my newly resurrected garden? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Search "bamboo barrier". It's sold for containing bamboo plants.

You're looking for a root barrier. There are several products - one example is made by Deep Root (TM). It comes in different widths. The root barrier prevents the roots from plants from growing where you don't want them.

Is the neighbours grass a woody grass like a low-growing bamboo or do you mean a soft grass? Depending on how invasive the 'grass' is, you may need a longer root barrier. They vary in effectiveness and really - nothing can stop nature - but it will help. I would expect that your local home improvement centre (Rona or Home Depot?) would supply this product.

Yes it could be installed at the fence line. You should probably try to not damage your neighbours plants and trees.

    Thanks very much.
I am going to take a print of your reply
I am disabled but have found a wonderful woman who loves to garden
    We will check it out.
My neighbour is a good friend and I will be very careful along the fence line.
I will let her know what I am doing
    I appreciate your response
May I let you know what Sue my gardener and I do?
    Thanks again.

I should add that the grass is probably a creeping red fescue. We all planted the same grass in this subdivision some fifty years ago. I hope my memory recall has the right name.
