No, not the ivy (although that is pretty noxious too!). This stuff is growing up through some of my ground cover and is very agressive. Thanks for any help.

IVY!... oh whoops, you knew that one. :) the other looks like a clematis at a glance.

    Traveller's Joy :-(

If it's quite aggressive, it's probably Clematis vitalba (Traveller's Joy), a European species that has become a big problem in several Vancouver and area parks. It climbs up into trees like ivy and becomes so dense that it can smother smaller trees and shrubs. It has small clusters of creamy flowers that turn into fluffy seed heads which hang on into winter. Get rid of it before it spreads!

    Clematis woes

Thanks Harry and Paul for your input. I was noticing that a previous post (a couple of days ago) from Lindsay had another suspected Clematis sp. although with a more maidenhair/ginkgo-ish type of leaf. Is anyone aware of a website that offers more info on these less ornamental Clematis species? All I can find are the standard ornamentals.

    Clematis vitalba

You'll find some excellent photos of Clematis vitalba here:

For more info, just go to google.com and enter "clematis species" or whatever and then check out the links.
