I am from Eastern Long Island. I was in a wetland and found this plant. The wetland is pretty disturbed- it is near RRtracks and parts of the wetland have been driven over(it is pretty disturbed) but there is lots of good stuff there. i collected this plant- took it back and thought perhaps it was seedbox (Ludwigia alternifolia). but the seedpods are not square. the seeds are also black. Could this be Marsh St. Johnswort (Hypericum virginicum)?
