Solanaceae, round red fruit roughly an inch in diameter (skin not smooth/shiny), lightly pubescent to spiny all over (except fruit) spines on main leaf veins, leaves lobed. This specimen about 1 foot tall. Found in Philippines. I'm foxed, as usual, Matt
Yes, it certainly looks a little like Solanum carolinense, Solanum linnaeanum, or Solanum sanitwongse . . . I don't have a picture of the flower :( The fruit seems to change directly from green to red.
Leaves are wrong for S. carolinense, S. linnaeanum ripens yellow (not red), and leaves aren't quite right for S. sanitwongsei. Is it in the wild wild, or somewhere that it could have been introduced? S. capsicoides, perhaps? It's a bit closer to your leaf structure - compare (GIS)
I'm fairly sure it is introduced - looks like some pictures of Solanum aculeatissimum, maybe it will be easier to wait for flowers :)
