I have tried to ID this vine several times and the only thing I can come up with is Buckwheat (Fagopyrum), which I don't think it is because I have been seeing this plant in the middle of the forest and not in disturbed roadsides. Thanks a lot, -Corey

Both leaves (note pointed tips) and flowers match Polygonum convolvulus. As noted, I believe it's now been renamed to Fagopyrum convolvulus? This site has good photos, including flowers: http://images.google.com/imgres?img...volvulus&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&sa=X
