Hi everyone.......I hope these questions don't seem to stupid! I live in sault ste marie (northern ontario) where all the great lakes meet. I'm guessing zone 3-4? I have recently planted a white cedar hedge (4' tall) around most of my property. About 300'. Ground is silty, gravely (but still holds water) I am looking for some quick growing cedars or ? that would grow tall but not too wide. The pics of the thuja green giant seemed nice (I just don't think it will grow). They don't have to be cedar......but some will be incorporated with the exising hedge. I have tried the "home depot" 6' cedar with no luck. I think they are grown in Colorado and are shipped in very small pots. I also have a few other areas where I can plant trees that can become a little wider say 10-12'. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I was on a website "fast growing trees nursery" ? I'm also not sure if they will allow me to import the trees accross the border. (Sault Ste Marie is a border town with Northern Michigan) Dawn Redwood or the Thuja Green Giant?
Sault Ste Marie is zone 4, possibly even zone 5. https://glfc.cfsnet.nfis.org/mapserver/laasmapper.phtml?MapSize=500%2C500&ViewRegion=Quick+Zoom&minx=443445.185573&miny=5997335.333906&maxx=1212848.982788&maxy=6766739.131121&imagewidth=500&imageheight=500&CMD=ZOOM_IN&CMD=ZOOM_IN&CHKBOX%5B2057%5D=2057&CHKBOX%5B4240%5D=4240&CHKBOX%5B2701%5D=2701&CHKBOX%5B2700%5D=2700&CHKBOX%5B2511%5D=2511&CHKBOX%5B2510%5D=2510&SET%5B1105%5D=0&SET%5B1205%5D=0&PREVIOUS_MODE=1&title=Index+values+and+Climate+variables+for+PH+%281930-60%29+and+%281961-90%29&title_e=Index+values+and+Climate+variables+for+PH+%281930-60%29+and+%281961-90%29&title_f=Index+values+and+Climate+variables+for+PH+%281930-60%29+and+%281961-90%29&NEK=e&LAYERS=2510%2C2511%2C2700%2C2701%2C4240%2C2057&SETS=1105%2C1205&mainmap.x=251&mainmap.y=248
