Went exploring Saturday on the North shore and came across several different species and am working my way through identifying them all. Have one that I have no idea about, any suggestions?
I was about to agree with you mudman as there is some Inonotus tomentosus in my neighbourhood right now that looks a lot like this. However, I think this may be a very young Phaeolus schweinitzii. Also, the dominant North Shore trees would suggest Phaeolus more so. Darb, if happen to be back in that spot and able to take a shot of this as it gets a bit older, that might sort this out. cheers! frog
