Hi All We've recently moved house and the garden has seven of the trees in the pictures below. We really don't want them and are planning to remove them and have grass laid for the children. They are about 6ft tall and one is nearly ten foot tall. I was wondering whether the trees are of any value? Don't want to rip them out and skip them, seems they've lasted a few cold british winters and would be a shame to scrap them. Any help wold be appreciated! Thanks Mick
They are Cordyline australis and look like this Mature Cordyline when full grown. They could be worth something if you contact the right people...try local landscapers and/or garden centres to see if they're interested.
They are good looking specimens but I agree a few too many. They make an interesting part of a planting but not strung out like soliders. Could you incorporate a couple into a planting with other things and see if you are able to give or sell the rest. Mine is a very tall one and is quiet happy in among it's decidious mates.
