We bought a brand new home in Houston, Texas and the builder put these trees in. I want more tropical landscaping so I want to sell these trees, instead of just throwing them away.

WHAT ARE THEY AND HOW MUCH ARE THEY WORTH???

They are extremely hardy, always green, in direct sun most the day, and require very little water it seems. They are 4' tall and full, and I pruned them in May and have already grown back and them some.

Please help. I know nothing about gardening and I'm a total beginner.

    HELLLLLPPPPPP!!!!

Looks like Ligustrum and as for value, not much. To buy new ones in #5 pots at a nursery you would be looking at about $30 around here. You might be able to give them away on Craigslist.

Hey Paul...thanks so much for your help! As with everything else in this K.Hovanian built home, everything is el cheapo..."termites holding hands" my husband calls it. And as for the roof, it seems these plants are of higher value than the roof they installed.

    Thanks again! Gina

Ligustrum japonicum. Since it's a broad-leaved evergreen it would actually be compatible with a tropicalesque effect, although if you have a whole bunch of them in a small yard you certainly won't want to give all of them the space.

My advice is to just tear out the ones you don't want, forget about trying to cash in.

if you can't move them to another area of your property, i'd offer them on freecycle rather than just chucking them in trash.

Unless recently planted could be hard to transplant in good condition. Not a rare item calling for special consideration or hard to find at outlets.
