2 years ago I bought a green gage European plum tree. It hasn't bloomed for two years. It's a self-fertile tree. It grew leaves first and didn't bloom. It is planted in a sunny location. The tree looks strong and its leaves look very good, but no flowers, no fruits.

Why does it have no flowers? What can I do? Thanks a lot!

Various Web pages state that it will take 2 to 4 years for a Green Gage plum tree to bloom.

That would be 2-4 years from propagation - if the specimen in question was a typical garden center size at purchase, it was big enough to bloom.

No, that is from planting a typical nursery tree which is 2 years old.

There is no difference between what I said and what you said.

Thank you for your reply. I might have to wait one or two more years.

I might be wrong about this, but I thought that propagation refers to the year that the tree was grafted. I assumed that the tree is then grown in a nursery typically for two years and sold as a two-year old tree in a garden center, at which point it is planted. The 2-4 year interval before blooming starts at that point. At least that is my interpretation of what I've read, briefly, online.

We have a Green Gage in Nanoose Bay hat had a rocky start and took seven years before we got a real crop for the first time last year. The tree was so loaded we couldn't pick all the fruit and this year the tree has many flower buds that will open in a week or two...
