Hi everyone, I live in the Buffalo area of New York State, and several years ago I grew something called a "Night blooming dandelion". I have moved to a new house, and have been looking for this plant for years. It is about the size of a dandelion, and usually opens in the evening. I would like any kind of help I can get in locating this particular plant to put in my garden. Thanks!

Thank you for your prompt response. I'm not sure if this is it, though. I remember that it came up like a dandelion pod on a stem and then opened one petal at a time till it was finished -- took about 10 minutes to open. The flower was about an inch and a half across. It's a rather old plant. One that I received a plant from a very elderly lady across the street from me because I loved them so much. I planted it and it seemed to take right away and came up every year. When we moved, I dug one out and transferred it, but it never came up again.

Chocolate Daisy (Berlandiera lyrata)? While the petals don't resemble a dandelion, the leaves are similar, and it might have gained the moniker on account of this(?)

    Silene noctiflora?

If Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis, if this name is still current) is your plant, I understand your fondness for it.
