I'm looking for some guidance as I've noticed holes in the leaves of my previously healthy - and newly planted - Norwegian variety variegated maple. Are insects the cause? Thank you!
Hi, Some insect damage, some sun burn, it looks to me. This variety (Acer platanoides 'Drumondii') will burn a bit, especially before fully established. Water deeply every week or so; but otherwise it looks very good, so nothing to worry about. Do make sure, though, to cut out any fully green leaves/branches as soon as you see them. This maple reverts very easily and quickly, so if you don't do this before you know it you will have a plain green Norway Maple. -Emery
