When potting or repotting house plants I've always placed a cut-to-fit piece of window screen in the bottom of the pot to try to keep the soil from leaking out during watering. I just found this suggestion on the net... "Prevent soil from draining out of flowerpots. When repotting, place a coffee filter at the bottom, over the drainage hole, then add the soil." That would provide even better containment for the soil and has very good wet strength. Just another gardening trick. ;)) barb
