Hi! I am pretty new to gardening but come from a family of greenthumbs. I just bought a new house with a great plot just waiting to be turned into a vegetable garden. I have been reading the intro to vegetable gardening on here and have also been researching making my own compost bin and small greenhouse.

I have made a list of the prep work I need to do to get ready and what I should plant when. I am thinking of corn, lettuce, spinach, radishes, carrots, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, green beans, peas, watermelon and canteloupe.

My small greenhouse will be for the melons and tomatoes. Would it be best to start them off in the house under lights and then transport them to the greenhouse?

Just wondering if anyone has tips for them as I know they can be trickier in our BC weather.

Also, is there anything that should not be planted next to each other? I have not yet sorted out the logistics/placement.

Any suggestions are really appreciated. Thank you!

http://www.durgan.org/Blog/Durgan.html This might give you some good ideas.

You didn't mention the area of your garden, which will reflect on what vegetables you should grow. The climate in Abbotsford should be ideal for most Canadian vegetables.
