Recently I moved from the States to Austria and as a house warming gift my girlfriend and I recieved a Bonsai tree which was purchased from IKEA. The only identification on it was "Bonsai", really narrows it down. The instruction "book" that came with it isnt't in english, my girlfriend translated it and all it said was to set the pot in water to water the tree. From what I can find I believe it is a Ficus microcarpa, but am not entirerly sure. I know that the pot it is in is no good but do not know what size pot it needs. The soil it is in know seems to be mostly peat with chunks of wood in it. The window it sits by faces south and gets good sunlight. This is the first time I have ever had a Bonsai and really need to know everything about triming growth and roots, I really want to make this a healthy beautiful Bonsai. Thanks for any help.
Thanks to terrestrial man! I posted a thread a week or two ago- and that site had all of the answers I was looking for. Very helpful.
