I just recieved chamaedorea seifritzii, ptycosperma elangans andcocothrinax miraguama seeds. they seem to have their seed coating on stil. should i reme them before planting them? whats the best advise you could give on germinating these seeds? I was going to put them in peat/perlite in a pot in a south facing window. pleae help
Chamaedorea seifrizii fairly easy to start as it is an invasive plant in Florida. Sterile soil, keep the temperature around 25c or so (warm) damp but not dripping. I start most palms in plastic bags, or covered pots...makes life easier. Ptycosperma elegans soaked them for 2 days. After that, mixed up a soil mixture in Sterilite containers in a 50-50 mix of peat moss and perlite.(there may be debate on mixes....but whatever works for you.) Then plant them just below the surface of the soil. About a month later they should started germinating. I would do the same for Coccothrinax miraguama as Ptycosperma elegans. try correcting your spelling.... chamaedorea seifritzii---Chamaedorea seifrizii ptycosperma elangans---Ptycosperma elegans cocothrinax miraguama---Coccothrinax miraguama
... and also, all botanical names should be italicized. Chamaedorea seifrizii Ptycosperma elegans Coccothrinax miraguama Cheers, LPN.
lol, its ususaly my typing... this one I shouldve just copy/pasted the names, maked it much easier heh
