Today I bout an orchid from English Gardens, it was on clearance, so I'm worried it might be unhealthy. My main concern is the roots, there are a few growing over the side of the pot, and the ones that are sticking out are white-ish, and a few of them look damaged. The damage looks like they got bent or twisted, and the damaged areas are tan-ish and dry. On closer inspection, there also looks like there's a small hole in the base of one of the leaves, near where a root sprouted/grew through the leaf, is that normal. Should I be worried about the health of my plant?

Normal for roots to grow up, out, and over the pot. New, growing roots have a silvery coating and green tip---older ones do shrivel up. Epiphytic orchids absorb moisture and nutrients through these multidirectional roots.

From what I can see of your orchid (appears to be a Phalaenopsis) it looks OK to me.

You're correct, it is a Phalaenopsis. Thanks for the feedback. I was worried. Upon further inspection this morning I found what looks like 3 new laves growing and a baby spike starting to develop. i attached a picture of what i think is the baby spike.
