New Jersey moss

    Hello, can anyone help me identify this moss? It grows in the woods beside my house in northern New Jersey. There are many clumps and most seem to have their sporophytes up at the moment

    This is Polytrichum, most likely P.commune.

    I'd agree with Polytrichum commune - it has a nearly world-wide distribution, provided it gets reasonable rainfall and humidity.
