I just ordered 2 new Jade trees online and am so excited, I can't wait for them to come in the mail. My questions are, 1. Should I pot as soon as I receive them or wait for them to callous?, 2. What size pot should I get for them? 3. Will the 20" continue to bloom or will I lose them? 4. Will the Cacti/Succulent soil be enough or will I need to add Perlite?
I appreciate and am thankful for any help.

    1. Certainly let it callous.

    2. The post needs to be big enough so that it won't fall over. Jades like to have tight roots, and since yours doesn't have any roots a small pot will fill with roots faster and dry out quicker.

    3. Best I know, jade bloom when they are big and old. So I guess you won't be seeing flowers for a while. But I could be wrong.

    4. C&S soil would be fine, but I like to add as much as 50% perlite to my pots. It cuts down on the chance of root rot from too much water. I love the stuff.

You are going to keep them outside most of the time, right?

Thanks for the advice M. So the smaller the pot the better right? So if the trunk is lets say 3" thick than a 5 or 6" pot would be fine? I will definitely be keeping it outside in the screened back patio. That should be fine right? It's in the south facing part of my house. I would rather not leave it outside the patio because they are so nice and I'm worried about someone walking off with them. Also, to let it callous over just means to let the cut dry right? I'm not waiting for roots to come out am I? I just wanna be sure before I put it in the dirt. Again, I am very thankful for your response.

So long as the pot is big enough to hold the cutting upright without falling over. You can wait until you see roots. There is no point in watering until you know there are roots anyway. The ONLY way for a jade cuttings to fail is to rot from too much water or watering before there are roots. Normally let the end of the cutting dry, plant it in a pot and forget about it. Some time later I notice it again, see that the leaves are all wrinkley and think "oh!!! I guess you should have roots by now."

Great, thanks again. I'll wait to receive the plants in the mail before I go buy pots. This way I get the right size. Thanks,
