New House--What are these trees/bushes?

    Hello,
    We've bought a new house and have two bush-like trees in our backyard (see pics) they are about 7-9 feet tall, and have somewhat glossy leaves. There is no evidence of flowers or fruit that we can see--does anyone know what these are? We'd like to care for them properly!

    As you look at them, the one on the left is a hibiscus. I can't get enough definition on the second to see what it might be. A branch taken to your garden center should get the info you want. (on both of them).

    Xylosma congestum I believe.
