Greetings. My husband and I bought a new home in late summer last year. The place came with 2 fairly mature Edelweiss grape vines and about 6 Valiant grape vines that appear to be younger but I am no expert. I had been travelling a lot and the plants got very little water in the fall even though it was still quite hot and dry here. I didn't prune them either and now (in the middle of April) I see no signs of life! When do grapevines start to grow in the spring?

Also, I have been told that you can't kill Hens & Chicks but the ones here at the house turned brown and crispy as winter approached. I've never seen them do that before and wondered if the former owner might have sprayed them with something before he left. They do seem to be coming back but it will take some time for them to recover to their former vigor. Just wondered if anyone had any insight.

    Thanks, Beth

    moyerdurhame,

Try posting on the grapes forum :) They give good advice.
