I have recently inherited a big garden and have no real knowledge of plants.

Can you help me identify any of these?

The garden is south facing, in Vancouver.

Do I need to add anything else?

    Thanks

    Marty

Pointy flower? with maple-like leaves = hydrangea? The link is to a picture of hydrangea quercifolia, but that is not necessarily the species/cultivar you have. Just to show the hydrangea leaf. Harry

Agree wit Harry. The last one is definitely hydrangea quercifolia, oak leaf hydrangea, in reference to the shape of the leaves looking like leaves of oak trees. It's a great shrub that doesn't seem to be utilised much around here.

Don't know about the others. Would help if you post pictures of mature leaves, flowers, bark etc when pictures become available.

First one looks like contorted willow, the third is oak leaf hydrangea as mentioned, not sure about the second one.

The willow is almost certainly Salix matsudana 'Tortuosa', specifically.
