#2 is Centaurea cyanea, aka Cornflower or Batchelor's Buttons.

Per good old Sunset - ERODIUM reichardii (E. chamaedryoids) , CRANESBILL, Geraniaceae.
AKA hardy geranium as it's called around here. This big purple one is the hardiest in my yard and has about taken over the top of the rockery. The white flowered one and the pink one are much smaller and stay put pretty well. ;)))) barb

Barbara, Erodium reichardii is a very different looking flower. It is very dwarf with small leaves and small pink flowers. I believe it will have very different leaves from the plant in pic 1.

    I agree with Andrey.
    It is a hardy Geranium.
Without seeing the whole plant and leaves it is impossible to say which one it is.
There are many different sp as well as hundreds of named cultivars.
